![]() I spent some time searching FN Browning Serial Number lookup files but all of the published serial numbers followed a different convention than on this pistol. Adds a little uniqueness to the piece.Ĭlick to expand.Thank you Stacy for asking that.your question prompted a bit of research, a discovery and I learned something. You can tell because that press included the French "SA" for incorporated. My 1922 was inspected by Louis Couchart, and the slide was machined on a backup press, used only during breakdowns or overflow. Many examples were captured and used by the Germans and later brought home by soldiers of other forces. As you said, the shorter barrel 1910 is infamous as the firearm used to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo in June 1914, tipping the world into war. ![]() The Cyrillic on the side translates to Army State or Property of the State. These first builds ( 1923-30) bear the contract number on the slide, as well as the shield emblem of the Yugoslavian Ministry of Defence on the barrel. A long barrel version of the 1910, created by request for the war decimated Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (now Yugoslavia). Due to the barrel length laws in Canada these are prohibited weapons, but lucky for me there is an option that allows us to own the next best thing, and I actually found one. That's a little beauty! Thanks for sharing.
